It’s no surprise that Thin Lizzy are one of my all time favorite bands (I can thank my good friend Del James for that). Their double live album “Live and Dangerous” is regarded as one of THE best live albums of all time. I know it’s one of my favorites, right up there with the classic UFO album “Strangers in the Night”. The thing is, I never knew this classic album was only half live. When Thin Lizzy main man Phil Lynott tapped Tony Visconti to produce the record, Tony had no idea what he was in store for. Phil ended up wanting to fix a few vocals here and there….which turned into him re-recording ALL the vocals! He also realized that his bass playing suffered when he was singing and performing live, so, you guessed it, he re-recorded all the bass tracks. In the end, it didn’t really matter as this album sounds incredible and bands have been over dubbing “live” albums forever. You can read more about this here.
